Leaders in Kanungu District have developed strategies to address the overwhelming number of patients at Kihiihi Health Centre IV.
Dr. Paul Nsiareta, the health center’s in-charge, stated that the facility currently receives about 212 women per month, significantly exceeding the standard capacity of 95 women per month.
Dr. Paul highlighted that most of the cases are related to maternal and postnatal health services, and the center lacks adequate staff and space to serve them effectively.
James Kaberuka, the MP for Kinkizi West, visited the health center and assured the public that he has already collaborated with the government to secure funds worth 900 million shillings to build an expanded maternity ward, which will accommodate the increasing number of women seeking services.
