Authorities at Kabale Tax Park are expressing frustration over the deteriorating condition of the offloading zones, which has severely impacted daily operations within Kabale Municipality.
Byamugisha Saturday Sylvester, Chairman of the Kabale Taxi Drivers Association, highlighted that during the rainy season, the area becomes excessively muddy, prompting drivers to avoid the designated taxi parks. Consequently, many drivers now operate outside the park, creating congestion and chaotic movement throughout Kabale town.
Since the relocation from the old taxi park to Mwanjari Business Center, Byamugisha noted that business performance has been below expectations. He attributed the business decline to the new park’s less favorable location.
Kabale Municipality Deputy Town Clerk, Eric Sunday, acknowledged these issues and assured that plans are underway to pave the parks for improved operations. While he did not specify the exact funding amount, Sunday indicated that the municipality is expecting support from the Uganda Support to Municipal Infrastructure Development (USMID) program soon, which will be used to upgrade the parks.
