Two people died on the spot and another two escaped with injuries in a motor accident along the Kabale-Kisoro road in Kabale municipality this afternoon.
The accident occurred at around 01:45 PM at Rwakaraba-Ihimbi village in Kijuguta ward in Northern Division in Kabale municipality.
Elly Maate the Kigezi region Police spokesman has identified the deceased as Rwegyema Bashir, a resident of Ihimbi village in the same division.
The second victim has been identified as Asiimwe Moses 28 resident of Rwakaraba kyetobokyeli cell Kijuguta ward, Northern division.
The two met their death after a Toyota Mark X registration number UBJ 871E belonging to Mark Niwagaba, a prominent businessman in Kigezi region that was being driven by Alex Tumwakiire alias Matama, a presenter at one of the Local Radio stations based in Kabale failed to negotiate a corner and knocked them.
Tumwakiire, who was accompanied by an unidentified woman was heading to Agaba Tavern bar to attend a birthday party of his co-worker,
Norman Tugume, an eye witness, says that as Tumwakiire was trying to dodge cows that Bashir was grazing when he lost control
He says that the vehicle knocked Bashir and the unidentified man as it rolled several times.
Andrew Akatwijuka Katarishangwa, another eyewitness, says the driver of the Mark X was speeding when the accident occurred. He says that Tumwakiire and the woman he was with in the vehicle were rushed to Kabale regional referral hospital with injuries.
