The Inter Religious council of Uganda has asked government to consider establishing a Ministry that will handle issues of guidance, Religious affairs and National harmony.
This is contained in their resolutions at the end of a 4-Day retreat held at Imperial Resort Beach Hotel in Entebbe.
The resolutions were read out by Pastor Dr. Joseph Serwadda the President of Born Again Faith in Uganda who said that the Inter Religious Council has fir long been agitatin for a separate ministry to streamline moral and religious related issues in this country.
The Archbishop of the Anglican Church in Uganda Dr. Steven Kazimba Mugalu thanked government for the support given to the council to carry out its work.
Kazimba is however asking government to revive the national dialogue for promoting peace and harmony in the country.
The Prime Minister of Uganda Rt. Hon Nabbanja Robinah officiated at the closure of the retreat.
Nabbanja thanked the Inter Religious Council of Uganda for their complementary work to government.
The Retreat that attracted religious leaders from Ethiopia, DR Congo, Tanzania and Uganda ran under the theme harnessing the power, assets and potential of faith communities to drive social transformation amidst global dynamic challenges.
The purpose of the Retreat was to explore ways in which IRCU could Leverage on her resources for effective delivery of her mission.
