Rubabo County witnessed the second day of nominations for the upcoming parliamentary elections, with two independent candidates formally declaring their intentions to contest.
Speaking shortly after her nomination, Moreen Tumwebaze, symbolically using a candle as her campaign sign, pledged to work tirelessly to elevate Rubabo County to greater heights. She emphasized her commitment to supporting SACCOs to ensure residents have access to loans for personal and community development.
Tumwebaze also highlighted her focus on education and youth empowerment. She noted the challenges many young people face after completing their studies, including unemployment, early marriage, and involvement in prostitution, and promised to create opportunities that would positively impact their futures if elected.
Another independent candidate, Arnest Katara Ngabirano, whose campaign sign is a watch, reflected on his past contributions to Rubabo County, including building schools and supporting vulnerable communities. He pledged to continue such initiatives and do even more if elected to Parliament.
Ngabirano also called for unity among candidates, urging aspirants to refrain from abusive language and to demonstrate exemplary leadership that will put Rubabo County on the map.
