Hundreds of mourners this afternoon thronged Rwentondo ward Eastern division Rukungiri municipality for the sendoff of Irene Akakawasa, an employee of North Kigezi diocese and compassion international who perished in a road accident on Monday
The late Akakwaasa was killed on the spot in a fatal motorcycle accident at Katabushera hill in Bungangari sub-county Rukungiri district.
The caretaker bishop of North Kigezi diocese Bishop Patrick Tugume Tusigwire while preaching to hundreds of mourners reminded them that the earthly tent, we live in will be destroyed and all of us will be sheltered in a Godly built house in heaven which is not built by human hands. He noted that the late Akankwaasa did great work in child development centers under north Kigezi diocese
The deceased was the wife of Rev Benson Akakakwasa the parish priest of Kyitazigurukwa church of Uganda in north Kigezi diocese who described his late wife as a loving and hardworking partner for the time they had lived together.
Her children described their late mother as a person who was knowledgeable as she helped their father look for their school fees to enable them to access education
The Rukungiri municipality Mayor Charlse Makuru called upon the people of Rukungiri to always be careful about the drivers and riders they engage, noting that some are not trained which has led to an increased number of accidents in Uganda.
Geofery Kyomukama, the Rukungiri district chairperson on behalf of the government the country has lost an iron lady who was giving knowledge to fellow women and children, especially in the child development centers she worked in.
Kyomukama later invited the oc traffic Rukungiri district James Tibejuka to explain to the mourners about the accident that claimed the life of the deceased
