Authorities in Nyakagyeme Sub County have accused a section of residents of blocking plans to revive Mitaano Sacco
The chairperson LC3 Nyakagyeme Sub County Mubangizi Godson revealed that they recently attempted to revive and revamp Mitaano SACCO but people stalled the movement demanding that those who swindled money and led to the collapse of the SACCO be forced to return the money
He added that they have support from leaders at the district and national level but residents organized secret meetings to oppose the efforts to revive the SACCO.
The area district councilor Jolly Twinamatsiko revealed that the move to revive Mitaano SACCO is being blocked by a few individuals who demand the recovery of the money that was swindled before it collapsed saying that the district commercial office is ready to support them accordingly.
The Sub County Speaker Mwesigwa Obed Mayanja noted that it is unfortunate that the Sub-county that was a role model now has no financial institution, among other key indicators of development.
