Hon. Mary Paula Turyahikayo, the former Rubabo County MP and aspiring Woman MP for Rukungiri District, has strongly condemned the spread of misinformation regarding her age, emphasizing that such baseless claims are a desperate tactic by political opponents threatened by her return to the race.

Hon. Paula made the remarks while addressing thousands of mourners at the burial ceremony of the late Isaac Benywanira, fondly known as Kanywani, in Kitanda village, Buyanja Sub-county. The late Isaac, son of Mzee George Ndyanabo, succumbed to cancer on June 4th in Mbarara at the age of 43. He is survived by 10 children.

Responding to recent negative propaganda, Hon. Paula reaffirmed her commitment to integrity, transparency, and continued service to the people of Rukungiri.

Widely respected for her compassion and track record, Hon. Paula is credited for spearheading effective service delivery, including the expansion of electricity distribution in Rukungiri. She called on her supporters and the general public to promote love, cooperation, and issue-based politics.

Her appeal comes at a time when the political climate is heating up, with many aspirants focusing on undermining their opponents instead of presenting their achievements and plans.

Also in attendance, Hon. Naboth Namanya, the current Rubabo County MP, urged residents to uphold peace during the election season.

The emotional ceremony was filled with tributes from family and friends. The deceased’s mother, Mrs. Dinnah Turyahimura, described her son, Isaac as a brilliant, loving man who was deeply devoted to his family.

Other heartfelt eulogies came from Isaac’s siblings, widows, and children, who spoke of his love, dedication, and the immense loss they feel following his untimely death.
