Rubanda West Member of Parliament, Hon. Kamuntu Moses Mwongyera, has resumed works to grade Kacereere playground in Kacereere Town Council, fulfilling a pledge he made during celebrations held at the venue in July 2024.
The playground grading initially began in December 2024 but was halted midway, raising concern among residents and local leaders who demanded the project’s completion. The recent return of the grader has revived hope as the MP follows through on his promise.
Local leaders and residents have expressed gratitude for the renewed commitment. The headteacher of Kacereere Primary School, Mr. Tindiwegi Bonny, praised Hon. Kamuntu’s efforts and noted that the school administration had formally written to the MP, appreciating his initial contribution and urging him to complete the work to a better standard.
Kacereere Town Council Mayor, Mr. Mugambagye Eliab, commended the MP not only for resuming the playground works but also for his broader support to the community. He highlighted that Hon. Kamuntu visited every cell in Kacereere Town Council and greater Bufundi Sub County, gifting each household a hand hoe and donating UGX 1 million to each cell. The MP also contributed UGX 1 million towards the Nyamatembe gravity water scheme currently under construction.
Parent and local leader Mr. Mbabazi Jeffrey, who chairs the PTA at Kacereere Primary School and also serves as Nyamatembe Cell LC1 Chairperson, confirmed that grading activities are still ongoing, with the grader actively working on the site.
Despite the progress, some residents like Sam Twinukye believe more work remains and that the completion will require more time and favorable weather conditions.
The community remains hopeful that the project will soon be completed, providing a much-needed public space for sports and community events in Kacereere and beyond.
