Hon. Chris Baryomunsi, the Minister of ICT and National Guidance and also the Kinkizi East Legislator in Kanungu district, has been elected as the Chairperson of the Kigezi Parliamentary Forum.
This forum serves as a unifying platform for members of parliament from the Kigezi region, transcending political affiliations. Hon. Baryomunsi takes over from Hon. Mary Paula Turyahikaho, the former Rubabo county legislator in Rukungiri district, who held the position for more than five years.
The forum encompasses members of parliament from all districts in Kigezi, with the aim of fostering collaboration for regional development.
Hon. Baryomunsi’s deputy in this five-year term will be Hon. Atwakiire Catherine Ndamira, the Kabale district women representative.
Other key members include Hon. Natukunda Medius Kaharata (Rukungiri Women MP) as the treasurer, Hon. Roland Ndyomugyenyi (Rukiga county) as the Secretary, Hon. Nicholas Thadius Kamara (Kabale Municipality) as the Publicity, and Hon. Patience Kinshaba (Kanungu Women MP) as the Whip.
According to the parliamentarians representing Kigezi region, the establishment of the Forum aims to bring together MPs, regardless of their political affiliations, to collaboratively plan and work towards the development of the Kigezi region.
