Hundreds of mourners gathered on Sunday in Kacuucu, Kamwezi, Rukiga District, to pay their final respects to the late Innocent Akunzire, who was laid to rest.
Akunzire, who served as headteacher at Nyaburondo Primary School in Rukungiri District, was only two years away from retirement.
He also held the position of Vice Chairperson of the Rukungiri Headteachers’ Association.
During the requiem mass, Rev. Fr. Mwesigwa Innocent, the parish priest, described the late Akunzire as a God-fearing man, a rare virtue among many.
He emphasized that Akunzire’s passing while at church was a testament to his deep faith and devotion to God.
The priest urged mourners to reflect on the legacy they would leave behind, reminding them that life is fleeting and one’s impact on others is what truly matters.
Additionally, he encouraged those in attendance not to lose hope during difficult times, noting that troubles often arise just before success.
Citing the biblical story of Job, he highlighted the importance of perseverance in overcoming life’s challenges.
The late Innocent Akunzire passed away just two years after the death of his wife.
He is survived by two sons and four daughters.
