On Thursday, the groundbreaking ceremony for the health department administration block for Kanungu District Local Government took place.
The event was overseen by the representative of the Resident District Commissioner, who also serves as the District Internal Security Officer, Walugembe Muzafaru, at the health office in Kanungu Town Council.
Following an inspection of the necessary construction works, the district leadership and technical team examined the scope of work.
This includes tiling the floors in the rooms, painting the internal walls and ceilings, replacing old plumbing and dysfunctional fittings, addressing external drainage issues, and replacing non-functioning door locks.
Nsamba Best Henely, the district superintendent of works, stated that M2K General Service Limited, represented by Contractor Kakuru Henely, has been awarded the contract for these tasks.
During the inspection, DISO Walusimbi Muzafaru and Chairperson Eng. Sam Kajojo cautioned the contractor and engineer to ensure high-quality work to avoid demolition or potential arrest for substandard work.
Assistant DHO Besisira Kato highlighted the inadequate conditions they have been operating in and expressed hope that the work would be completed swiftly for the benefit of the district’s health services.
