Ronald Bakak, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner of Kabale, has instructed the police to conduct a thorough investigation and apprehend individuals who have received Emyoga funds but have failed to meet their repayment obligations.

During a review meeting held at the Kabale municipal council headquarters for Kabale Emyooga SACCO chairpersons, Bakak issued this stern directive. He disclosed that a significant amount, exceeding Shs 330 million, intended to facilitate the transition of households from subsistence to market-oriented production, remains outstanding.

Various enterprises, including Ndorwa East youth leaders, Ndorwa East tax operators, Ndorwa East performing arts groups, Ndorwa East carpenters, Ndorwa West mechanics, Ndorwa West tax operators, Ndorwa West Boda Boda riders, Ndorwa West salon owners, Ndorwa West youth leaders, Ndorwa West restaurant proprietors, and Kabale municipality journalists’ Emyooga Saccos, are among the defaulters.

Bakak stressed the importance of stepping up efforts to apprehend all defaulters to ensure the recovery of the loans.

The Emyooga Programme, initiated by the president in August 2019, aims to convert 68% of households from subsistence to market-oriented production. This initiative is part of the government’s broader strategy to promote job creation and improve household incomes.
