Government of Uganda through Ministry of works and transport have kick-started construction of 47km road from Kizinda-Rutookye,Biteereko-Rwempungu and Rutookye-Kisizi-Kiyanga.
The road that connects the two districts of Bushenyi and Mitooma currently is in a poor state that forced local residents to held a series of demonstration in the past.
While speaking at the grand breaking ceremony the deputy speaker of parliament Thomas Tayebwa thanked the government of Uganda through Works and Transport ministry for realizing funds to a tune of 2.6bn shillings to grade and murrum the Kizinda-Rutookye road.
He implored residents to be productive in farming and Agriculture since the road will be constructed in time and there will be access to market within nearby urban centers.
Musa Ecweru the state minister for, said for long he used to recieve complaints from area members of parliament on the affairs of the Kizinda-Rutookye road and he is happy that government have released funds for it’s construction.
Annet Katusiime Mugisha woman Mp Bushenyi District warned contractors of shoddy work even though it’s government to take up the construction exercise asking ministry of works who are the contractors to consider giving jobs to able and youthful people of Bushenyi in the course of construction.
She also extend a strong warning to young girls within Nyabubaare and Kizinda town council where the construction process will take through against engaging in sexual affairs with road contractors engineers and work that many will be left pregnant, spread HIV prevalence and young born babies which may increase cases of domestic violence in the district.
