General Henry Tumukunde, aspiring Member of Parliament for Rukungiri Municipality, on Tuesday delivered food relief to residents of Kalangalo Ward to support them during this challenging period after their communities were hit by heavy hailstorms.
Justus Muganzi Karoli, a resident of Kahororo and vice chairperson of the NRM Western Division, said the hailstorms destroyed crops and banana plantations, leaving residents hopeless. He expressed gratitude to General Tumukunde for remembering them and providing 5 kilograms of posho to each household. Karoli stated that although it may not be much, it is enough to sustain them for a week, and pledged their full support for General Tumukunde.
Mary Origarugaho and Kemari Restatuta, residents of Kahororo Cell, joyfully thanked General Tumukunde for the food aid. They said they were in a desperate situation after the hailstorm and committed to supporting the General, hoping that Kahororo will receive better services such as improved roads and health facilities.
Twinomugisha Sylvia Katimbira, chairperson of the Western Division, urged residents from all four affected cells to rally behind General Tumukunde. She assured them that with his leadership, they would receive vital services including clean water, good roads, and improved healthcare.
She emphasized that the food relief initiative was entirely General Tumukunde’s idea, aimed at compensating and supporting the people of Kalangalo after the recent disaster.
George Tumwesigye Owakukyiroro, overall coordinator for Team General Henry Tumukunde, revealed that a total of 3.2 tons of posho were distributed today in response to the cries of the affected residents.
He reaffirmed that General Tumukunde is committed to serving the people who have trusted him, adding that the General has seen their challenges and is determined to ensure Kalangalo Ward receives the services it deserves.
