Fr. Clement Musabyimana of Rwengiri Catholic Parish in Kabale Diocese has urged students in candidate classes to avoid engaging in examination malpractice as they prepare for the upcoming Uganda National Examinations.

He made this appeal on Thursday during a dedication mass for Senior Four candidates at St. Peter’s Kihumuro Secondary School in Buyanja Sub-County, Rukungiri District, where 41 students are set to sit for UNEB exams.

Fr. Musabyimana emphasized that examination malpractice is detrimental, potentially leading to the cancellation of results and jeopardizing students’ futures. He encouraged the candidates to remain calm, have confidence in their abilities, and aim to bring recognition to their school.

Innocent Gumisiriza, the head teacher of St. Peter’s Kihumuro Secondary School, noted that the 41 candidates are the school’s first cohort since its establishment in 2020, despite the challenges posed by COVID-19. He expressed confidence in the students’ readiness for the exams, stating that teachers have completed the syllabus and taken all necessary steps to ensure the candidates’ success.

He also urged the students to focus on continuing their education beyond O’level, pointing out that many students mistakenly believe that completing O’level is sufficient in today’s Uganda.

Mr. Innocent further praised the Catholic Church for its commitment to education, highlighting its role in establishing schools that promote enlightenment, combat ignorance, and eliminate backwardness.

A section of the candidates expressed their confidence in their preparedness for UNEB exams, mentioning that they have been involved in discussion groups and regularly consulted with their teachers.
