Numerous leaders, politicians, and residents of Ntungamo district are mourning the loss of Mr. Grace Patrick Maguzi, the former chairperson of the Ntungamo District Service Commission.
Mr. Maguzi passed away from kidney infection at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital on March 29th and was laid to rest in his ancestral home in Kucuragyenyi village, Nkongoro parish, Nyabihoko sub-county, Ntungamo district on Monday.
Micheal Timuzigu Kamugisha, the MP for Kajara County, expressed the rarity of individuals like Maguzi, highlighting his dedicated work ethic and his assistance in helping many individuals prosper, particularly through job opportunities during his tenure at the service commission.
Maguzi served as the chairperson of the Ntungamo District Service Commission from 2003 to 2009. Before this role, he held positions as a Business Manager at the Bank of Uganda and as a Branch Manager at Uganda Commercial Bank in Kampala. Despite managing several successful businesses, Maguzi faced challenges, leading to the collapse of his multimillion-dollar enterprises due to loans and taxes.
His son, Dr. Moses Fisha Muhumuza, characterized his late father as a resilient fighter who generously supported both family and friends with his wealth, even after facing personal setbacks and losing everything.
Maguzi passed away on March 29th at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital due to multiple organ failure. He is survived by his wife, Generous Maguzi, and eight children.
