The President of the Boys’ and Girls’ Brigade of Uganda, the Rt. Rev. Bishop Nathan Ahimbisibwe who is also the Bishop of the South Ankole diocese has appealed to the foot soldiers of Jesus Christ commonly known as the Boys’ and Girls’ Brigade to serve God wholeheartedly and be good agents of change in their churches.
Rt. Rev. Bishop Ahimbisibwe noted that this will foster the advancement of the Kingdom of God which enables them to promote discipline, self-respect, and responsible citizens in the future.
He attributed his achievements to the strong moral foundation and guidance that he got from the Boys’ and Girls’ Brigade which he joined at the age of 12 as lance corporal.
Bishop Ahimbisibwe made remarks on Sunday while launching a week-long Boys’ and Girls’ Brigade retreat for East and Central Africa Brigade members that is going on at Kyamate SS South Ankole Diocese Ntungamo District.
Bishop Ahimbisibwe urged brigade officers to be responsible and serious while executing their duties like Joshua and Caleb who reached the promised land of Canaan but not like grasshoppers after failing to perform their duties.
Rt. Rev. Ahimbisibwe took over officially during the National Council Sitting at Namirembe Resource Centre (NAREC) on June 17th, 2022, in Kampala from Rtd Rt Rev. Dr. William Rukirande, Bishop Emeritus of Diocese of Kigezi who served the Brigade diligently.
The secretary general of the global fellowship of Boys and Girls Brigade Bill Stevenson hailed the Rt. Rev. Ahimbisibwe the president of the Boys’ and Girls’ Brigade of Uganda for being the vision bearer of the retreat which will inculcate life skills to the brigade members.
The event was also graced by the Secretary-General of Brigade in Uganda Dantes Kanshangire and Bishop Isaiah Deye of the Methodists church of Kenya among others.
