The Katwe Kabatoro Territorial Police in Kasese District are investigating the tragic death of Kule Felex Gaddafi, a 28-year-old resident of Tophil Cell, Tophil Ward, Katwe Kabatoro Town Council, who was killed by a crocodile while fishing illegally on Lake Edward.

According to reports, Gaddafi went fishing early on the morning of 30th October 2024 at around 7:00 a.m. It is believed he inadvertently entered a known crocodile breeding area, where he was attacked and dragged underwater. Marine Police initiated a search shortly after the incident and successfully retrieved Gaddafi’s body from the lake.

Following the retrieval, the body was handed over to his family for burial. Authorities have urged local residents to observe caution and respect designated fishing zones to prevent further incidents. Nelson Tumushime, the Kasese District Police spokesperson, emphasized the need for safety in crocodile habitats, particularly as incidents involving dangerous wildlife can escalate during breeding seasons.
