The North Kigezi diocesan bishop Rt Rev Onesimus Asiimwe has called upon teachers in all schools under North Kigezi diocese to know their mandate and do their part in educating children since they have been trusted by parents.

He made these remarks on Monday while addressing a press conference at his home in Kinyasano western division Rukungiri municipality as learners returned to school for the second term.

He requested all head teachers from the church-founded schools to be vigilant in this second term and fight the vice of homosexuality that is increasing in Uganda.

Rukungiri Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Nsubuga Bewayo Stephen appealed to parents and guardians to make follow up on their children to ensure that they reach school safely.

He said that some parents give their children boda boda cyclists and their friends to take them to schools and fail to follow them up which is dangerous as some end up taking them in bars and other evil places.

According to the Ministry of Education and Sports calendar, the second term will which started today, will end on August 25, 2023.
