Police in Kabale is investigating the sudden death of a man whose body was discovered in a hotel room in Kabale Municipality.
The deceased has been identified as Zibahurire Peter, also known as Kamugisha, a male adult from Murandamo “A” Cell, Rubumba Parish, Kahungye Sub-county in Kabale District.
According to police, the man checked into Manhattan Hotel, stating that he had come to Kabale Regional Hospital to collect medicine but could not get it on the day. He reportedly planned to spend one night in town and return the following day.
Yesterday at around 3:00 pm, he went to rest in his room. This morning, during a routine check by the hotel receptionist, the door was found unlocked. Upon entering, she discovered him lifeless on the bed. The hotel manager was alerted and immediately reported the matter to CPS Kabale.
Police, together with the police surgeon, visited the scene. A postmortem was conducted to establish the cause of death, after which the body was handed over to the relatives for burial.
Inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the death are underway.
