Hon. Namanya Naboth, the legislator representing Rubabo Constituency, reiterated the enduring strength of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party and its steadfast commitment to challenging President Yoweri Museveni’s dictatorial regime.
Speaking at an FDC conference in Rubabo Constituency held at Nyarushanje Sub County headquarters, Hon. Naboth urged FDC members not to succumb to intimidation tactics, including financial inducements from the National Resistance Movement (NRM).
He noted with confidence the increasing interest from NRM members in Rubabo Constituency vying for the parliamentary seat, but expressed his unwavering resolve to retain the position with the support of FDC members.
Hon. Betty Muzanira, former Woman Member of Parliament for Rukungiri district, commended the unity within the FDC party amidst leadership uncertainties. She praised Hon. Namanya Naboth’s leadership in Rubabo Constituency and Parliament, particularly his efforts in confronting alleged corruption.
Emphasizing financial independence, she encouraged FDC members to invest in sustainable ventures rather than relying on handouts from political leaders.
Kajere Pauson, Chairperson of FDC in Nyarushanje Sub County, dispelled rumors of the party’s demise, reaffirming its resilience and commitment to its principles. He attributed the low turnout at the conference to misinformation spread by rival parties but pledged to organize more frequent meetings to strengthen the party’s presence.
The Rukungiri district FDC Chairperson emphasized unity and solidarity within the party, endorsing the leadership of Dr. Col Kiiz Besigye. He appreciated the support of Hon. Namanya Naboth and Hon. Betty Muzanira in advancing the party’s agenda in the district.
As part of their fundraising efforts, he launched the “Power 10” initiative and a monthly subscription drive, urging party supporters to contribute 1000 shillings per month to support the party’s programs.
