The fourth match day of the Buyanja My Roots tournament 2024 unfolded with thrilling encounters in Kampala on Sunday, featuring various teams hailing from Buyanja sub-county and Town council in Rukungiri district.
This eagerly anticipated tournament, which kicked off in late 2023, saw enthusiastic participation from members of the association from Buyanja, showcasing their prowess on the field.
In an action-packed series of matches, Nyakabungo emerged victorious over Kasheshe parish with a resounding 4-2 win, while Nyabiteete dominated Rwakirungura with a convincing 4-0 scoreline. Kitojo was slated to face Nyakeina but the latter failed to appear, resulting in Kitojo being awarded 3 points by default. Rubanga secured a hard-fought 4-3 triumph over Nyakeina parish, while Katojo and Kyamakanda battled to a 2-2 draw. Nyakabungo received a walkover victory as Nyakeina failed to show up, earning them 3 free points. Nyakeina parish suffered another defeat, this time against Nyabiteete, with a 3-0 scoreline. Kasheshe emerged victorious against Kyamakande with a 3-1 win, and Katojo secured a narrow 2-1 victory over Kitojo. In the final match of the day, Rubanga edged past Rwakirungura with a close 3-2 win.
Amos Begumanya, one of the tournament organizers, highlighted the tournament’s goal of fostering unity among residents of Buyanja.
He expressed gratitude to those who have consistently supported the event and urged residents to rally behind their teams, particularly those who travel to participate in the games in Kampala.
