The Most Reverend Father Lambert Beinomigisha, Archbishop of Mbarara Catholic Archdiocese, expressed satisfaction with the growing number of youths and priests within the Catholic Church. He emphasized that this trend indicates a promising continuity for the Church beyond the present generation.
Addressing the congregation during a confirmation mass at Sacred Heart Ntungamo Town Catholic Parish on Sunday, Archbishop Beinomigisha noted the challenges faced by some churches, particularly in the Western world, where certain archdioceses struggle with dwindling numbers, with some having fewer than 200 parishioners and less than five priests.
He highlighted the significance of the numerous individuals presented for confirmation and baptism, indicating a continued willingness among many to embrace Christianity, thus fostering hope for the Church’s future.
The Parish Priest of Sacred Heart, Reverend Father John Bosco Tumusiime, expressed gratitude for the Archbishop’s inaugural visit since assuming his position. He observed a growing emphasis among parishioners on economic development, influenced by government initiatives and collaborations with other religious institutions.
During the mass, a total of 418 Catholics, predominantly school children, received confirmation.
