Henry Niyigaba, a resident of Nyamirima village in Nyamagana Ward, central division of Kisoro municipality, was tragically electrocuted yesterday afternoon at a former Miami hotel building located in Kisoro Hill central division.
Immediately after being electrocuted, Niyigaba lost consciousness. He was swiftly transported to the Touch to Heart Medical Centre, situated opposite the former Miami hotel building. Unfortunately, Niyigaba passed away before receiving any medical assistance.
Geoffrey Muhinda, the Manager of UMEME Kisoro branch, confirmed the incident. He attributed the tragic event to the negligence of the building owners who failed to disconnect the electricity supply during construction. Muhinda stressed the importance of exercising caution when dealing with electricity and urged residents in the area to remain vigilant.
As of now, the Police have not issued any statements regarding the incident.
