Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Thomas Tayebwa, has tasked the Kabale Woman Member of Parliament and Ndorwa East County MP with identifying a project for a One Billion funding initiative. The chosen project is slated to be developed in Kaharo Sub County, Kabale district.
This announcement was made during the wedding ceremony of George William Kanagizi, the Presidential Advisor on Kigezi Affairs, and Flavia Kanagizi. The wedding took place at St. Mathew Church of Uganda Kumbura in Bugarama Sub County, Kaharo Sub County of Kabale District.
In his address at the ceremony, Tayebwa, who is also the son-in-law to Kanagizi, commended the hardworking reputation of the Bakiga people and urged them to continue their efforts towards regional development.
Tayebwa emphasized the importance of residents advocating for constructive programs that positively transform the region, rather than burdening leaders with requests for party contributions and condolences.
He specifically called on the community to collaborate with Honorable Catheline Atwakiire Ndamira and Honorable Wilfred Niwagaba to identify a suitable project for funding, suggesting a school or hospital as a fitting reward for Kanagizi being his son-in-law.
The wedding ceremony, presided over by the Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi, the Rt. Rev. Gaddie Akanjuna, also featured an address by the State Minister for Trade Industry and Cooperatives, David Bahati. Despite facing sanctions from some individuals in Western countries, Bahati asserted the legislators’ commitment to persist in their efforts to combat homosexuality, which they perceived as a threat to the Church and families.
