On Tuesday, December 26, 2023, more than 200 children gathered at Karoli Lwanga Nyakibale Hospital to witness the inauguration of a new Children’s Play Room at the facility.
This vibrant play area features bicycles, cars, trampets (Vuvuzelas), puzzles, jumping ropes, and aerobic equipment generously donated by Mike Daphine from the United States.
The Children’s Play Room will be open daily, including evenings, with the aim of facilitating a speedy recovery for hospitalized children and enhancing overall body functioning for those seeking to maintain good health and sharpness—all at no cost.
Okoch Andrew, the administrator of Karoli Lwanga Nyakibale Hospital, expressed gratitude to Mike Daphine for his generous donation and acknowledged the medical staff who guided the children through the use of the equipment. Dr. Andrew emphasized that these resources are intended to positively impact the lives of the children.
Dr. Mike Kyewalyanga, the pediatrician at Nyakibale Hospital who led the instructional sessions, reminded parents of the fundamental importance of play in promoting the health of both the body and mind in children.
Residents, such as Natako Lilian from Katojo Cell, Katojo Ward, Buyanja Town Council, praised the management of Karoli Lwanga Nyakibale Hospital for providing children with the opportunity to access such equipment, contributing to their overall well-being and intellectual development.
