Hundreds of married couples from nine parishes in Nyarushanje sub-county gathered at Nyarushanje Catholic Parish, Kabale Diocese, to renew their vows during a mass organized to celebrate marriage at the parish premises.
The Catholic Church marked the day for married couples and family life, emphasizing the importance of Christian families guiding their children on moral values.
Father Alfred Byarugaba, the parish priest of Nyarushanje, presided over the vow renewal ceremony, expressing concern about family stability and urging couples to uphold their vows for the betterment of their families. He emphasized the role of parents in teaching their children to live responsible lives and lead by example.
Father Alfred highlighted the family as a school where children learn essential values such as culture, faith, love, and respect. He called on children to always show respect to their parents, emphasizing the significance of parental blessings in their lives.
Tom Rugagwaana, the chairperson for married couples in Nyarushanje parish, explained that the event serves to reinforce the vows made during marriage. He acknowledged that people may sometimes forget their promises to each other but noted that this occasion provides an opportunity to renew their commitment.
Representatives Bernard Tuhisomwe and Agatha Tuhisomwe encouraged couples to show true love to their spouses and work towards the development of their families. They urged fellow couples to inspire the younger generation through advice and by teaching them good morals, emphasizing the importance of moving forward together in their marital journey.
