The Right Reverend Godfrey Mbitse, Bishop of the Diocese of Muhabura, has called upon Christians to reflect on their experiences in 2023, encouraging families to enter 2024 with a renewed commitment to peace.
In his sermon delivered at St. Andrews Cathedral Seseme in Kisoro Municipality, where he confirmed more than 70 individuals into the Anglican faith, Bishop Mbitse warned against false prophets who establish churches for financial gain. He advised Christians to remain loyal to their existing congregations and focus on spreading the gospel.
Expressing apprehension about the increasing number of pastors with diverse ideologies, Bishop Mbitse specifically highlighted concerns related to the emphasis on homosexuality. He commended President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for maintaining a stance against it in the country.
Additionally, Bishop Mbitse stressed the importance of Christians safeguarding themselves from iniquities that could lead to family disputes. He underscored the significance of maintaining peace within households as a crucial aspect of Christian living.
