The mayor of Bwizibwera-Rutooma Town Council in Kashari South and Chief Organizer of the Captain JB Tumusiime Tournament Kashari South 2023 in Mbarara District has unveiled the primary objective of hosting football competitions for this tournament – to mobilize and safeguard the youth from involvement in criminal activities.

During the extended school holidays, Captain JB Tumusiime Bamuturaki Omudumizi, in collaboration with other stakeholders in Kashari South, deemed it wise to organize sports activities. The goal was to mobilize and engage the youth in sports and games as a means of protecting them from potential involvement in criminal activities. The identified criminal activities include theft, adultery, drug abuse, playing cards, and attending video halls, all of which pose risks to their future lives.

Tumuhimbise conveyed this message while addressing spectators who watched a semifinal football match between Bwizibwera-Rutooma Town Council Football Club and Bukiro Town Council at Rwanyamahembe Playground.

Bwizibwera-Rutooma Town Council Football Club emerged victorious, defeating Bukiro Town Council 1-0, thereby qualifying to face Rubaya Sub County FC in the finals at Bwizibwera Playground on January 1, 2024, starting at 3:00 PM.

In an earlier match, Rubaya Sub County FC played against Rwanyamahembe Town Council FC and secured victory with a score of five goals to four in penalties, following a two-to-two tie in the first and second rounds.

Mayor Peterson Kakuru of Rwanyamahembe Town Council expressed gratitude to the former Mbarara District Chairperson, Capt JB Tumusiime Bamuturaki Omudumuzi, for envisioning and planning activities that bring youth together to share experiences, promote talents, and contribute to a bright and fruitful future by safeguarding themselves through sports and games.

Stuart Behangana, the Captain of Bwizibwera-Rutooma Town Council Football Club, affirmed their readiness and commitment to face Rubaya Sub County FC and emerge victorious in the Captain JB Tumusiime Tournament.

Kato, the Assistant Captain of Rubaya Sub County FC, criticized youth who promote conflicts and hostility during friendly games, emphasizing the importance of such events in enhancing physical and mental health, as well as fostering teamwork.
