In an effort to promote sports in Rukungiri District and prepare for the second edition of the Boona Cup, Hon. Counsel Isaac Atukunda, an aspiring Member of Parliament for Rukungiri Municipality, has extended support to the football teams that will represent their divisions in the tournament scheduled for Sunday, 17th November.
Speaking on behalf of Counsel Isaac Atukunda while presenting the support, which included jerseys, balls, and whistles, Hon. Mucunguzi Fred encouraged the players to put forth their best efforts, emphasizing that dedication is the key to achieving success. He urged the teams to strive for victory, not only to win the trophy but also to bring honor back to their respective divisions. Additionally, he announced that the winning team from the Municipality will be rewarded with a goat to roast and celebrate their triumph.
Hon. Innocent Muhwezi, the head of sports for Team Counsel Isaac, urged the recipients to handle the equipment responsibly so that it can be used to further their athletic careers. He emphasized the importance of taking good care of the gear to ensure its longevity and utility.
Ngabirano Denis, the Southern Division Chairperson, praised Counsel Isaac for his generous support to all teams in the Municipality. He noted that this assistance would motivate the players and boost their confidence as they compete to secure victory for their divisions.
Tugumisiriize Henry, also known as Henry Manchester United, one of the coordinators of the Boona Cup, reassured the players and supporters that this edition will adhere strictly to the rules and regulations set by the organizers. He acknowledged that there were rule violations during the first edition but guaranteed that this time, there would be no room for errors.
