In a surprising turn of events amid ongoing National Resistance Movement (NRM) grassroots mobilization activities, residents in three villages of Isingiro North—Kitooha in Kasaana Parish and Kabare One and Two were unable to vote for their local leaders due to unresolved community conflicts.

This revelation was made by Birere Sub-County Chairperson Hiraly Bajungu, who noted that the disputes in the affected villages stalled the democratic process, leaving residents without elected representation. Bajungu expressed optimism that the conflicts would soon be resolved to allow proper electoral procedures to take place.

The disruption comes as the NRM continues to reorganize and strengthen its structures at the village level across the country. In nearby Mbarara District, Hon. Bataringaya Bazil Rwankwene, Member of Parliament for Kashari North, was recently elected as the NRM publicity secretary for Kabirizi Cell in Rubindi Sub County. He praised President Museveni for championing internal party democracy and emphasized unity among members, especially those who lost in the primaries.

While leaders like Bataringaya call for cohesion and renewed support for NRM, the situation in Isingiro highlights underlying tensions at the community level that could undermine broader party goals if not addressed.

The Electoral Commission is expected to oversee upcoming general elections, and the unresolved issues in parts of Isingiro could delay full participation if not swiftly resolved.
