Christians have been called upon to embrace selflessness and extend a helping hand to those in need, while those called to serve God were urged to be patient, humble, and obedient to His will.

These remarks were delivered by The Very Reverend Amatsiko Niwegariho, the Dean of North Kigezi Diocese, who represented Venerable Edson Kakanyisa, the Archdeacon of Rujumbura Archdeaconry, currently on leave. He made the remarks during the installation ceremony of Reverend Benard Akankiiza as the new parish priest of St. Andrew’s Kitazigurukwa Church of Uganda in Rujumbura Archdeaconry.

Rev. Amatsiko encouraged Rev. Benard to continually rely on the Good Shepherd, who always guides and strengthens those He has called to serve. He reminded him that God rewards those who serve Him diligently, and that his calling came through the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

He also urged all Christians to remain hopeful in Christ, engage in constant consultation with Him, and trust in the One who called them, for He is faithful to lead them to the end. Rev. Amatsiko emphasized the importance of humility in ministry.

The Head of Laity at St. Andrew’s Kitazigurukwa Church, Mr. Akatutungisa Henry, a senior police officer attached to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, congratulated Rev. Akankiiza upon his installation and commended his service since he was posted to the parish.

Henry revealed that the parish community is committed to completing several development projects including finishing the church structure, constructing a house for the Reverend, growing coffee and trees to generate income, and fulfilling their diocesan financial obligations. He pledged full support from the Christians to further the growth of the church.

In his remarks, Reverend Benard Akankiiza expressed gratitude to the Christians of St. Andrew’s Kitazigurukwa Church and all well-wishers who attended the installation. He thanked God for a successful day and appreciated the warm welcome and cooperation he has received.

Now officially installed as parish priest, Rev. Benard pledged to collaborate closely with the congregation to accomplish the projects already underway, such as completing the church building and constructing his residence.

David Musinguzi Gakyaro, a guest of honor from Nyakabungo, appreciated the Christians of St. Andrew’s Kitazigurukwa for their commitment to church development through initiatives like coffee farming and tree planting, which provide income and support to the serving clergy.

He encouraged Christians to remain rooted in Christ, emphasizing that life without Christ is meaningless. He made a special appeal to parents to teach their children about Christ from a young age so they grow up anchored in faith.
