The Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese Rt Rev Onesmus Asiimwe has rallied clergy and Christians to embrace growing coffee on church land to generate income for the development of the churches.
He made the remarks on Sunday while leading the thanksgiving service organized by the family of the late Rev Canon Geresom Ruhindi at Nyakisoroza Church of Uganda Archdeaconry in Nyakishenyi Sub-county, Rukungiri District.
Bishop Onesimus Asiimwe cited coffee among other projects as a productive project that generates adequate income for the church since churches have utilized land.
He further praised the Late Rev Canon Geresom Ruhindi as an example who did a lot for the church in Agriculture and urged church leaders to emulate him.
The daughters of the late Rev Canon Geresom Ruhindi led by the Former Minister for Agriculture, Animal Industry & Fisheries Hon Hope Mwesigye, and the wife of the Former Prime Minister Jackline Mbabazi noted that they organized the thanksgiving as a reunion to recall the life achievements of their fallen father.
The Archdeacon Nyakisoroza Archdeaconry Rev Canon Nathan Tigakanya revealed that Nyakisoroza church of Uganda will live to celebrate the efforts of the Late Rev Canon Geresom Ruhindi.
The Vice Chairperson LC3 Nyakishenyi Sub-county Beinomugisha Mary Kicori revealed that Rev Canon Geresom Ruhindi exhibited a high level of love and caring during his services.
A total of over 18 million was raised for the construction of the Catichest house in memory of the late.
Others who graced the thanksgiving were the Commissioner General of Uganda Prison Dr Canon Johnson Byashaija, and the Commissioner of Traffic Nuwabiine Lawrence among others.
