The former district chairperson and chairperson of the Veterans League, NRM Mbarara district, Rtd. Capt. JB Tumusiime, has called upon the public to remain focused, calm, and cooperative during and after the forthcoming NRM primary elections, emphasizing that elections come and go.

Capt. JB Tumusiime urged the public to avoid politics based on religion and tribes and to always look forward with a vision of choosing leaders who have the capacity to lobby for resources from the government and development partners to facilitate service delivery.

Capt. JB Tumusiime Bamuturaki made the remarks in a message aimed at mobilizing the masses to start preparing for the forthcoming multiparty political campaigns to elect new leaders of Uganda soon.

He urged the public to refrain from supporting and voting for people who have not been part of the community, noting that such individuals often disappear after winning the vote, which interrupts service delivery to the people.

Capt. Tumusiime warned that giving political support to individuals allegedly introduced by people with heavy cash or political influence is wrong, as it promotes corruption and undermines the people’s right to choose their leaders freely.

Capt. JB Tumusiime Bamuturaki, who is in the process of seeking to contest for the parliamentary seat of Kashari South constituency, said that during his term of office as Mbarara district chairperson, he implemented many public projects using billions of shillings he personally lobbied from the central government.

He added that, as a capable and effective local leader, he used the office of the district chairperson to improve the status of health facilities, schools, and roads, including increasing the district wage bill, which enabled the filling of most vacant departmental public offices.
