The Territorial Police in Kabale District have launched investigations into the mysterious death of a 30-year-old man, identified as Twesigye Anthony, a resident of Rukidi Street, Bazaar Parish, Southern Division in Fort Portal Municipality.
According to authorities, the lifeless body of the deceased was discovered on the evening of Sunday, June 1, 2025, at around 7:52 PM, by two men who had gone to relax at Kabale Municipal Stadium. The body was found lying on the green grass near the stadium’s perimeter wall, in Central Cell, Central Ward, Central Division.
Upon notification, police from Kabale Central Police Station promptly responded to the scene, where they examined, processed, and documented the area. A search of the deceased’s belongings led to the discovery of a national identity card bearing the name Twesigye Anthony, along with a sachet containing a brown substance suspected to be rat poison. The sachet featured an image of a rat, leading investigators to suspect possible suicide.
The body was transported to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination to ascertain the actual cause of death.
Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, ASP Elly Maate, confirmed the incident and noted that investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
Authorities urge anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist in the ongoing inquiries.
