The police in Rukungiri are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of two people and another one critically injured.
The two are Ahumuza Enid 56 years woman a resident of Rwabwingi “B” cell Buhunga parish/sub-county who was allegedly cut by Philip Tumuramye 28 years of Rwabwingi “A” cell whom he attacked from her shop while was sleeping.
It’s alleged that on the 8th September 2023 at around 08:30 am at Rwabwingi “B” Cell while Enid was in her shop sleeping she was attacked by Philip who was armed with a Sharp panga which he used to cut & seriously injure her.
She made an alarm which attracted her biological son Muramuzi Rogers who went in for rescue & during the process, he was also cut & injured by the same person which attracted other locals who ran after Philip Tumuramye as he was trying to escape from the scene. Was overpowered and killed.
However, Enid and her son were rushed for medication but upon their arrival at Nyakibare hospital, Enid died instantly.
A report was registered at Buhunga Police station by Justine Bashaba the area chairperson Rugando cell, the scene was visited and processed, and a sharp panga stained with suspected blood was recovered at the scene where Enid was injured and both bodies were conveyed to Rwakabengo health center 3 for Postmortem.
Speaking to residents in Buhunga they revealed that Philipo was well behaved only that he had a mental illness that made him run to kill Ahumuza suspecting her to have been practicing witchcraft within the community.
