Authorities in Kisoro Municipality are hunting for a minimum of 500 million shillings to construct a state-of-the-art international public library facility to bolster research efforts and further stimulate the tourism sector within the region.

This has today been unveiled by Birungi Front, the Principal Community Development Officer of Kisoro Municipality.

According to Birungi the library will not only serve as a repository of knowledge but will also house an advanced ICT center offering free WiFi internet services, a captivating museum, and an international conference hall.

He said that Kisoro Municipality currently has a public library, but its services have been hampered by spatial limitations and a dearth of computers.

He told our reporter that the municipality recently received a visit from Adonia Katungisa, the Director of the National Library of Uganda, who pledged and delivered 10 computers.

He also disclosed that the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has committed to providing free and unrestricted WiFi access throughout the year.

Birungi highlighted the profound impact the facility will have on research activities, both present and historical, owing to the inclusion of a museum and high-speed internet access and the expansive conference hall will enable the hosting of large public gatherings.

He noted that all services offered at the library will be entirely free of charge, extending this privilege to tourists.
