Christians from Bugangari Archdeaconry under North Kigezi Diocese have raised 27 million Uganda shillings in a fundraising drive to purchase a vehicle for the priest of Kitunguru Church of Uganda.
Hundreds of believers gathered at Kitunguru Church of Uganda for the ceremony, led by Archdeaconry Elder and pillar Mr. Kwesiga Boaz Ruteera and his wife, Mrs. Syria Ruteera. The event aimed at supporting Rev. Kweringa Fred Ainembabazi, who has been serving the parish without reliable transportation.
While preaching at the ceremony, the retired Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese, Rt. Rev. Patrick Tugume Tusingwire, commended the Christians for embracing God’s mission and supporting the spread of the gospel. He praised them for investing in practical efforts that strengthen evangelism and revival ministries, noting that providing vehicles to clergy enhances outreach and pastoral work.
Representing the current Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese, Rt. Rev. Onesmus Asiimwe, the Diocesan Secretary, Rev. Muntulive Nshaba Ruhanga, expressed the diocese’s appreciation for the initiative. He said the diocesan leadership fully endorses the idea of providing vehicles to church leaders to ease their work. He also applauded Mr. Ruteera and his wife for initiating and consistently supporting the program, encouraging Christians to continue working together for the growth and revival of the diocese.
Rev. Kweringa Fred Ainembabazi expressed heartfelt gratitude to God and the congregation for standing with him. He said the new vehicle would greatly improve his ministry, as he has long faced transportation challenges while serving the faithful. He specifically thanked Mr. and Mrs. Ruteera for championing the idea and mobilizing Christians to contribute toward the cause.
Mr. Kwesiga Boaz Ruteera praised the North Kigezi diocesan leadership and the faithful for supporting the initiative. He said the vision of providing vehicles to church leaders is aimed at ensuring the Word of God is effectively preached across the archdeaconry and beyond. He appreciated both the current Bishop, Rt. Rev. Onesmus Asiimwe, and the retired Bishop, Rt. Rev. Patrick Tugume Tusingwire, for their continued support of church development and revival efforts.
By the end of the ceremony, a total of 27 million Uganda shillings had been raised toward the purchase of the vehicle. Mr. Ruteera pledged to top up the amount if necessary to ensure that a suitable and reliable car is secured for the priest.
