In a lively showdown today, excited spectators gathered at Bikungu Boys’ Primary School playground in Mutara Town Council, Mitooma District, to witness an exhilarating football match between Boona FM FC and Greater Mutara Select. The friendly match drew a large crowd and ended with Boona FM FC emerging victorious with a 1-0 win.

Moses Twekwatse, the Speaker of Mitooma District, expressed his appreciation for Boona FM’s continued efforts in organizing such events, acknowledging their critical role in promoting and showcasing talent within the community. He emphasized that these initiatives provide entertainment and play a significant role in the development of sports and local talent in the district.

Twekwatse added that the Mitooma District Council is committed to further developing sports by increasing its budget, noting that through sports, talents are nurtured, and the well-being of local communities is enhanced.

Nasasira Amon, the Mayor of Mutara Town Council, also thanked football enthusiasts for their support. He pledged to boost football activities in the town council, encouraging Boona FM to continue bringing football to different communities as it fosters unity and talent development among the youth. Amon also called on the Kazoora Foundation to construct a proper playground in Mutara to elevate sports in the area.

Canon Yowasi Mulungi, the Archdeacon of Mutara Archdeaconry, reminded spectators of the unifying power of football, stating that talent brings people together, as reflected in the teachings of the Bible. He encouraged the community to embrace this spirit of togetherness.

Boona FM Station Manager, Namanya Kakyene, highlighted the station’s goal of bringing football to local communities to unite fans and well-wishers while promoting the development of local talent. He announced that, as part of efforts to promote both sports and tourism, Boona FM has organized the Boona FM Bunyoro Tour, which aims to boost tourism in the region. Kakyene urged spectators to listen to Boona FM’s programs and actively participate in its initiatives.

Atuhwerire Author Kazoora, CEO of Kazoora Foundation and sponsor of today’s match, praised the players for their excellent performance on the field. He awarded a goat to the winning team, Boona FM FC, and UGX 200,000 to the runners-up, Greater Mutara Select. Kazoora also revealed plans for an upcoming medical camp, stating that on October 9th, 2024, the Kazoora Foundation will bring a medical camp from Mulago Hospital to Mutara, followed by another camp in Kabira on October 10th, 2024, offering free treatment to all residents.

This thrilling match, along with the collaborative efforts of various community leaders, continues to showcase the power of sports in bringing people together and developing local talent in Mitooma District.
