Right Rev. Onesimus Asiimwe, the Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese, has urged Christians to let go of past disappointments and failures and focus on planning and setting new goals for the coming year. Speaking during his New Year sermon at Emmanuel Cathedral Kinyasano, Bishop Asiimwe emphasized that many individuals often dwell on past mistakes, which prevent them from progressing and achieving their full potential.
Bishop Asiimwe called on the congregation to reject negative thoughts about past failures, urging them to embrace the new year with hope and enthusiasm. “This new year brings with it new opportunities and changes,” he said. “Prepare for the future by setting clear goals and working towards enhancing your life.”
He further acknowledged the large turnout for the 31st Cross Over Day of Prayer at Prayer Mountain, where over 10,000 Christians attended to mark the transition into the new year.
The Bishop expressed gratitude to all those who participated in the prayer event, highlighting the importance of consistent prayer in the lives of Christians. He noted that prayers are inclusive, welcoming people from all religions, and encouraged everyone to attend prayer services regularly as a way to strengthen their spiritual journey.
Bishop Onesmus closed his sermon by offering blessings to the congregation and encouraging them to trust in God’s guidance as they embark on a new year filled with opportunities for growth, healing, and success.
