On Sunday, January 7, 2024, the Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese, the Rt Rev Onesimus Asiimwe, will preside over the ordination of four ordinands at Emmanuel Cathedral Kinyasano in Rukungiri district.
Currently, the ordinands and their spouses are undergoing a retreat at Hotel Riverside in the Easterns division of Rukungiri municipality. This retreat, led by Rev. Can. John Mulindabigwi from Ankole Diocese, is preparing the candidates for the upcoming ordination service on Sunday. The bishop will be assisted by various clergy members during the ceremony.
The individuals to be ordained include Maniga Ruhanga Chris, Orishaba Allen Owokwesiga David, and Taremwa Emmanuel, all of whom have completed theological courses.
The retreat is facilitated by Rev. Can. John Mulindabigwi, assisted by Rev. Edson Ampeire (North Kigezi Diocesan Missioner), Rev. Can. Eric Baingana (Dean, Emmanuel Cathedral Kinyasano), Rev. Ronald Natuhwera, and Rev. Enock Karamuzi (North Kigezi Diocesan Secretary).
In addition to the ordination, the diocese has welcomed a delegation of eight representatives from the Anglican Diocese of Armidale, Australia. These delegates will play a key role as facilitators in the upcoming North Kigezi Diocese Next Generation Youth Conference 2024, scheduled to take place from January 7 to 12, 2024, at Kinyasano Girls High School. The delegation was received by Rt. Rev. Onesimus and Maama Florence Asiimwe.
