Bishop Onesimus Asiimwe of the North Kigezi Diocese announced that he will mark his first anniversary as the 6th bishop on Sunday, March 17, 2024, since his consecration by Archbishop Steven Kazimba Mugalu of the Church of Uganda.
During his visit to the Bugangari Archdeaconry, Bishop Asiimwe highlighted his efforts in promoting revival, resulting in numerous individuals accepting Jesus as their savior. He also emphasized the importance of coffee growing and the revitalization of Church of Uganda schools.
Funds raised on the anniversary and from churches across the diocese will contribute to the ongoing construction of Emmanuel Cathedral Kinyasano, initiated by the late Bishop Benon Magyezi.
Bishop Asiimwe expressed gratitude to the Christians of Bugangari Archdeaconry for their cooperation, particularly in launching a coffee-growing project at Rwanyanja Church of Uganda.
Archdeacon Ven Elias Mbangi extended appreciation to Christians across the parishes for their warm reception of the bishop, who confirmed Christians in their faith. He noted the progress of the Archdeaconry, including initiatives like coffee projects for income generation and the construction of modern Archdeaconry offices, supported by the laity under the leadership of Mr. Boaz Rutera.
