Bishop Godfrey Mbitse of the Diocese of Muhabura expressed deep concern over the escalating issues of corruption, murders, and property theft, emphasizing the adverse impact on service delivery.
These remarks were made during the conclusion of a three-day conference organized by the Diocese of Muhabura for the wives of clergy members, held at the Muhabura View Guest House in Kisoro town.
Bishop Mbitse highlighted the pervasive nature of corruption, emphasizing that it has infiltrated not only public institutions and government offices but has permeated throughout society. He underscored the prevalence of demanding unofficial payments for various services and urged parents to instill a strong work ethic in their children to ensure self-sustainability post-education.
During the conference, Rev. Deborah Tumushabe, the Diocesan Mothers Union coordinator of the Diocese of Kigezi, and Mauda Nkurunungi, who facilitated the event, encouraged women to initiate income-generating projects rather than solely relying on church tithes. Additionally, they advocated for the protection of children against harmful influences, including homosexuality.
