Authorities in Mitooma District are worried about the failure to recover a total of 1.2 billion shillings under the Youth Livelihood and Uganda Women Empowerment program within the district

Speaking to reporters in Mitooma District Allen Atuzarirwe, the district community development officer said youth groups under YLP received 1.2 billion shillings but only 300million has been recovered and women groups under UWEP received 421 million shillings but only 192 million shillings have been recovered.

Atuzarirwe said that most of the youth groups cannot be traced throughout the District.

Benon Karyeija the Mitooma district boss noted that they are looking for all ways to get the defaulters arrested and pay the money.

However, he cited that this habit was accelerated by some leaders who used to take bribes before giving beneficiaries the money and now fear looking for them.
