Ms. Kellen Kagisha, the Assistant Rukungiri Resident District Commissioner (ARDC), has urged Ugandans to actively participate in the upcoming voter registration verification exercise.
Speaking on Saturday, 18th January 2025, during the end-of-year and beginning-of-year party organized by Rukungiri Government Prisons at their premises in Eastern Division, Rukungiri Municipality, Ms. Kagisha emphasized the importance of the exercise scheduled to take place from 20th January to 10th February 2025.
She called on all eligible citizens, including first-time voters, to engage with register exhibitors to verify their details and ensure their identities are accurately captured. Stressing the significance of voting, she highlighted its role in electing quality leadership.
Mr. Chrosostimu Byaruhanga, commonly known as Rwakana, the Rukungiri District Chairperson of the Business Community, commended the administration of Rukungiri Government Prisons for their effective management. He acknowledged their role in providing a conducive environment for traders by preventing issues such as theft and ensuring re-arrest of escapees.
Superintendent of Prisons (SP) Namuli Brenda, the Officer in Charge (OC) of Rukungiri Government Prisons, expressed gratitude for the successful event. She highlighted its objective of motivating prison staff through awards and time off duty while calling for renewed dedication from her team.
The event was graced by distinguished guests, including prison heads from the Kigezi and Ankole regions, Rukungiri District corporate leaders, and other notable attendees. The ceremony also saw outstanding prison warders being recognized with awards.
