KABALE: The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, The Most Rev Dr Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu on Saturday concluded his official pastoral visit in the Diocese of Kigezi with commissioning of the following projects;
A building at Rugarama School of Nursing and Midwifery. The School is owned by the Diocese of Kigezi. The Archbishop commended the Diocesan leadership for establishing this school to train Students with knowledge, skills and attitude to work in rural settings where majority of the people live.
The Diocesan Secretary’s House. He thanked Bishop Gaddie Akanjuna and the Diocesan leadership team for paying attention to the welfare of ministers both ordained and lay. He lauded the Kampala Fellowship led by Mrs Jesca Tushemereirwe for mobilizing resources for this project.
The Archbishop was the main celebrant in a holy Communion service at St Peter’s Cathedral, Rugarama. His sermon was drawn from 1 Corinthians 3:9.
“As Christians, we are called to be God’s co-workers. We all have a purpose, and that is to serve God. Let us work together, as co-workers with God, to fulfill our purpose and advance His kingdom on earth.” Archbishop Kaziimba.
He concluded his official pastoral visit with a visit to Bishop Barham University College, a Constituent college of Uganda Christian University where he is the Chancellor. He interacted with Staff led by the Principal, Dr. Alice Jessy Tumwesigye and tipped them on strategic positioning.
He was accompanied by The Rt Rev Gaddie Akanjuna who is the Chairman of the College Governing Council and host Diocesan Bishop.
Hon David Bahati, the Minister of State for Industry and Member of Parliament for Ndorwa West, commended the Archbishop for encouraging Churches to set up income generating projects to have independence from donors.
“It is important for us as a Church to establish income generating projects that will ensure our self-sustainability and reduce our dependence on donors, especially those whose values do not align with ours.” Hon. Bahati said.
He added, “This will also protect us from any attempts to promote values that are contrary to our faith, such as homosexuality.”
