Police in Mitooma District are currently investigating a disturbing case involving the abduction and severe harm of two individuals under mysterious circumstances.
According to Marcial Tumusiime, the spokesperson for the Greater Bushenyi police, the two victims are Julius Akamwijuka, a 38-year-old casual worker residing in Kanyanshokye village, Mpungu Sub-county, Kanungu District, who was abducted, and Tumwekwatse Jerome, a resident of the same address, who sustained serious injuries.
Tumusiime went on to identify the primary suspect as Katufeyo Cryspus, a resident of Omukitigunda trading center, Kataho Parish, Mutara Sub County in Mitooma District, along with others who are still at large.
The incident is reported to have occurred on October 6, 2023, at 10:00 PM when Turyahabwe Sira reported at Mutara police post about the disappearance of his worker, Akamwijuka Julius. This disappearance had taken place the previous night.
According to the report, the two victims had gone to the bar of Bahanzibwe Rodgers, where they were served waragi (a type of alcoholic beverage).
After consuming the waragi, Tumwekwatse Jerome lost consciousness and was later discovered by Turyahabwe Sira at his residence, having sustained a stab wound on his cheek. Unfortunately, his colleague, Julius Akamwijuka, was nowhere to be found.
Tumusiime stated that the police, with the assistance of a sniffer dog, conducted an investigation at the scene, which led them to the home of Katufeyo Cryspus. Katufeyo Cryspus had been previously apprehended by local residents.
During the investigation, two trousers and one sandal belonging to the missing person were recovered from the scene. Tumusiime emphasized that the inquiries into this case are ongoing.
