Police in Kisoro are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Aida Nabakooza, a 62-year-old Mukiga peasant residing in Rugagi village, Nyundo parish, Nyundo sub-county, Kisoro district.
According to reports, on the night of January 21, 2024, around 8:00 PM, Nabakooza was last seen in Jonas’s bar, where she was reportedly drinking alcohol with Bunva John and Annet, who is Jonas’s wife.
Tragically, on January 22, 2024, at approximately 8:00 AM, Ntezeremye Amos, while on his way to dig in his garden, discovered Nabakooza’s lifeless body in her compound, adjacent to a feeder road. Ntezeremye immediately informed Annah, who was passing by, and upon closer inspection, they confirmed that Nabakooza appeared to be deceased. The matter was promptly reported to the police.
A team of investigators visited the scene, documenting the area, and statements were recorded from witnesses. The body was subsequently transported to Kisoro Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination.
Further investigations revealed that Nabakooza had left the bar alone late at night and had been residing alone in her house.
The police are currently conducting inquiries to ascertain the circumstances leading to Nabakooza’s death.
