Police in Rukungiri are holding a 53-year-old man for hacking his wife to death.
SP Musa Tibakirana, the Rukungiri District Police commander says Musinguzi Charles alias China a resident of Nyabugando Cell, Matsya Parish, Nyakagyeme Subcounty Rujumbura County Rukungiri district reportedly hacked his wife Kemigisha Jenefer 48, of the same area to death.
Tibakirana says the incident occurred yesterday 02/6/22 at around 9:00 PM in the evening.
the couple has been embroiled in domestic violence over family land which the man wanted to sell and buy a motorcycle, a move which was opposed by his wife who argued that the family would not have any land left for cultivation. Tibakirana Explains
The suspect is reported to have quarreled with his wife, followed by a brutal confrontation in which he hacked her to death inside their matrimonial house.
He later ran away and handed himself to Police.
Tibakirana says the scene was visited and documented by a team of detectives and other personnel, the body was conveyed to Rwakabengo Health Center 111 for postmortem, and the suspect was taken into custody.
